Ghost Towns of Southern California

The Costa Mesa Historical Society and the Friends of the Costa Mesa Libraries are pleased to co-host noted author STAN PAHER as our speaker on Sunday, April 28, 2019, as he presents another of his acclaimed programs on ghost towns.

In Stan’s words:

I will begin my presentation with brief comments on how [Costa Mesa author and newswoman] Nell Murbarger has influenced my life, then dive into 19th and 20th century black and white images of ghost towns and mining camps in the Death Valley/Southern Nevada area. There will be much on Rhyolite (barely in Nevada) at the edge of Death Valley National Park and will conclude with newer color images. Other camps to be covered include Greenwater, Panamint City, and Cerro Gordo (all in California). A question and answer period will follow.

Special meeting location:

The Costa Mesa Downtown Recreation Center
(adjacent to the Costa Mesa Historical Society Museum)
1860 Anaheim Avenue
Costa Mesa, CA

Doors open at 2:00 p.m. Program begins at 2:30 p.m. Admission and refreshments are free.

Due to construction, please enter the parking lot from Anaheim Avenue.
